The municipal People’s Committee issued an implementation plan for the construction of the 6.2-kilometer metro segment, accompanied by a detailed appendix outlining tasks and timelines under the principle of clearly assigning responsibilities, duties, and deadlines.

The plan is designed to secure all necessary conditions for the start of the Ben Thanh – Thu Thiem section while accelerating overall investment in the second metro line.

Once completed, the line will help form a strategic transportation corridor linking Tan Son Nhat International Airport with the underway Long Thanh International Airport in neighboring Dong Nai Province.

The plan identifies key tasks and priority work items to focus implementation efforts, while outlining coordinated and decisive organizational measures to ensure effective execution.

The municipal administration emphasized that participants in the project must treat it as a major political mission, requiring concentrated time, expertise, personnel and resources.

The plan calls for mobilizing the collective strength of the entire municipal political system while maximizing institutional coordination among participating entities.

Authorities are also urging departments to resolve procedural issues promptly, remove bottlenecks and maintain strict quality standards as the project moves forward.

Relevant departments and agencies have been instructed to increase the use of information technology to accelerate document processing with an aim to prevent delays and ensure all procedures are completed in time for the scheduled groundbreaking.

The Ben Thanh – Thu Thiem section is currently being studied and prepared through a feasibility report by Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment Corporation, a unit under Truong Hai Group (THACO).

Relevant units are currently working around the clock to ensure the project can get off the ground before April 20.

The city classifies the project as a key and urgent infrastructure undertaking that must be carried out immediately.

Beyond serving daily travel demand within Ho Chi Minh City, the section is considered a critical component of a future integrated urban rail corridor linking the two international airports.

In mid-January, the city launched the construction of a stretch of the second metro line linking Ben Thanh in the city center and Tham Luong in the northwest.

The Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line, the first of its kind in Ho Chi Minh City, began commercial operations in December 2024.
