The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has issued an order penalizing individuals and organizations for illegally installing or placing advertising boards on sidewalks on Pham Ngoc Thach Street in District 1.
These boards obstruct commuters’ vision, according to the order.
The department tasked its inspectors with joining hands with the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center to identify violators.
The District 1 administration was told to direct its units to review unlawful advertisement installation, as well as roadway and sidewalk encroachment, to impose fines on violators.
Also, the department proposed the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports step up its control over the temporary use of roadbeds and sidewalks for advertising purposes before considering allowing advertising boards.
The efforts are aimed at ensuring advertisement installations comply with prevailing regulations.
