In a document issued on Wednesday, the department urged all schools to promptly implement storm preparedness measures.
These include inspecting and reinforcing facilities at risk of damage, trimming trees within campuses, checking drainage systems, and securing electrical networks.
Administrators are required to plan for possible evacuations of students and teachers to safe areas and move records and equipment to dry locations.
Schools must closely monitor weather updates and maintain regular communication with local authorities.
If the storm’s impacts worsen, schools should be ready to switch to online learning or temporarily suspend in-person classes.
The department emphasized that safety should be the top priority during the stormy period.
After the storm passes, educational institutions must swiftly repair damage, clean classrooms, and disinfect facilities to ensure hygiene and prevent disease outbreaks.
The department also ordered all extracurricular and outdoor activities to be postponed before, during, and after the storm until conditions return to normal.
