Students from Phan Van Tri Elementary and Middle School in Cau Ong Lanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, celebrate their victory at the 2026 World Robot Olympiad China Invitational Championship in Nanjing, China.
The school’s principal, Le Hong Thai, shared the news with Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper on Monday, celebrating the students’ achievement as a result of a learning environment that encourages creativity and hands-on experience.
Thai said this year’s competition was fiercely contested, with teams from technology powerhouses including South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Türkiye, Egypt and China.
The “Robots Meet Culture” theme also posed a major challenge for the school’s students as they competed on the international stage.
The Vietnamese students demonstrated sharp logical thinking, highly precise automated programming and the ability to troubleshoot independently on the competition field, Thai said.
In August 2026, the school’s robotics team had already defeated nearly 500 contestants at the national final of the Robotacon WRO competition, winning the gold medal and national championship.
Thai said the school remained committed to an educational philosophy that reduces pressure from grades and places students’ happiness and creative freedom at the forefront.
The school emphasizes hands-on practice and student autonomy, while providing science clubs and students with ample space to conduct independent research, he said.
According to Thai, the victory at the 2026 World Robot Olympiad China Invitational Championship affirmed the school’s standing in implementing an advanced, internationally integrated education project.
It also demonstrated that Vietnamese students have what it takes to reach the highest levels of global technology competitions when nurtured in a suitable learning environment.
