Ho Chi Minh City to close multiple streets for New Year fireworks displays

Traffic will be adjusted in several areas to ensure safety and order during the fireworks displays, scheduled from midnight to 12:15 am on January 1.

To mark the New Year, Ho Chi Minh City will organize three high-altitude fireworks displays at the entrance area of the Saigon River Tunnel in An Khanh Ward, the central area of the New City in Binh Duong Ward, and Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau Ward.

Low-altitude fireworks will be displayed at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Binh Thoi Ward, Saigon Marina IFC Tower in Sai Gon Ward, and Rach Dia Bridge in Nha Be Commune.

Traffic police urged residents traveling near restricted zones to reduce speed and strictly follow instructions and road signage.

In the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, covering the fireworks sites at the Saigon River Tunnel entrance and Saigon Marina IFC Tower, all vehicles will be banned from entering a wide range of streets from 9:00 pm on Wednesday (December 31) to 1:00 am on Thursday (January 1, 2026).

- Le Loi (from Pasteur Street to Dong Khoi Street)

- Nguyen Hue (from Le Thanh Ton Street to Ton Duc Thang Street)

- Dong Khoi Street (from Mac Thi Buoi Street to Ton Duc Thang Street)

- Ton Duc Thang Street (from Le Duan Street to Khanh Hoi Bridge)

- Nguyen Huu Canh (from Ton Duc Thang Street to Nguyen Binh Khiem Street)

- Vo Van Kiet Street (from Pasteur Street to Khanh Hoi Tunnel)

- Ngo Van Nam Street (from Nguyen Sieu Street to Ton Duc Thang Street)

- Nguyen Sieu Street (from Ngo Van Nam Street to Ton Duc Thang Street)

- Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (from Hoang Dieu Street to Khanh Hoi Bridge)

- Ham Nghi Street (from Pasteur Street to Ton Duc Thang Street)

In addition, streets surrounding Me Linh Roundabout will also be closed, including Ngo Duc Ke, Ho Huan Nghiep, and Thi Sach.

Alternate routes for drivers

Commuters can take the following alternative routes:

- From Thanh Tay Ward to Xom Chieu Ward: Nguyen Huu Canh → Nguyen Binh Khiem → Le Duan → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia → Nguyen Du → Cach Mang Thang Tam → Nguyen Thi Nghia → Nguyen Thai Hoc → Ong Lanh Bridge → Hoang Dieu → Nguyen Tat Thanh.

- From Xom Chieu Ward to Thanh My Tay Ward: Nguyen Tat Thanh → Hoang Dieu → Ong Lanh Bridge → Nguyen Thai Hoc → Nguyen Thi Nghia → Cach Mang Thang Tam → Nguyen Thi Minh Khai → Xo Viet Nghe Tinh.

- From An Khanh Ward to Hoa Hung Ward: Vo Nguyen Giap → Dien Bien Phu → Dinh Tien Hoang → Vo Thi Sau → Ba Thang Hai → Le Hong Phong.

- From Hoa Hung Ward to An Khanh Ward: Le Hong Phong → Dien Bien Phu → Vo Nguyen Giap.

Vehicles remaining within the Dong Khoi area after the road isolation will only be allowed to travel outward toward Me Linh Roundabout, not inward toward Dong Khoi Street.

Also, vehicles will be prohibited from stopping, parking or gathering on the following bridges for fireworks viewing: Thu Thiem, Binh Loi, Binh Trieu, Mong, Calmette, Ong Lanh, Hang Xanh Overpass, Go Dua Overpass, Phu My, Nguyen Huu Canh Overpass, Kinh Thanh Da, Saigon, and Rach Chiec.

Restrictions in other fireworks areas

In the new city center area of Binh Duong Ward (Area 1), from 8:00 pm on Wednesday until the end of the fireworks program, all vehicles will be barred from sections of Hung Vuong, Le Loi, and Huynh Thuc Khang Streets.

Alternative routes via Vo Van Kiet - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Le Duan - Le Loi and Vo Van Kiet - Huynh Van Luy - Le Loi - Ly Thai To have been arranged.

Traffic diversion plans are also in place in case of congestion, guiding vehicles toward Tan Uyen, Ben Cat, and Thu Dau Mot Wards via major arterial roads and roundabouts.

In Vung Tau Ward (Area 2), encompassing the Bai Sau central square, traffic restrictions will take effect from 9:00 pm on December 31 until the conclusion of the fireworks and accompanying art performances.

Vehicles will be prohibited from entering sections of Thuy Van, Le Hong Phong, Tran Chanh Chieu, and Le Van Tho Streets.

Alternative routes have been designated for travel between Bai Sau Beach and Bai Truoc Beach to ensure continued mobility during the event.
