The initiative, approved by the municipal People’s Committee, is being organized by Ho Chi Minh City Football JSC, the owner of Ho Chi Minh City FC.

The company said it will set up five LED screens measuring seven meters high and 12 meters wide along the section of Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street between Le Loi and Ton Duc Thang streets.

Fans will be able to gather at the pedestrian boulevard to watch both semifinal matches between Vietnam and Malaysia. The first leg is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 p.m. on August 16 in Kuala Lumpur, while the return leg will be played at 8:00 p.m. on August 19 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

Organizers said the public viewing event is intended to create a vibrant atmosphere for football supporters in Ho Chi Minh City and rally support for the national team.

If Vietnam advance to the final, the screens will remain in place for fans to continue cheering on head coach Kim Sang Sik's side as they bid to retain their regional title.

Ho Chi Minh City Football JSC has previously organized similar public viewing events on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street.

Most recently, it installed giant screens for Vietnam's matches at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025 and the AFC U23 Asian Cup earlier this year.
