The center said the new routes are part of the city’s strategy to accelerate the transition to green mobility and reduce emissions in its bus network.

Two operators will run the new electric bus services, significantly expanding coverage across urban and suburban areas.

VinBus, a transport brand of leading Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, will operate nine electric bus routes, including routes 32, 38, 45, 53, 64, 93, 127, 140, and 148.

Among them, Route 127, connecting An Thoi Dong to the Ba Xan intersection, is expected to improve public transport access in Can Gio, a coastal destination in suburban Ho Chi Minh City.

Futa Buslines will launch 16 additional electric bus routes, including routes 01, 04, 08, 15, 22, 27, 43, 62, 65, 70, 74, 81, 110, 139, 152, and 170.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has a total of 47 electric bus routes with 627 vehicles.

The city also runs 18 compressed natural gas bus routes with 449 vehicles.

Environmentally friendly buses now account for 46.4 percent of the city’s total bus fleet.
