During the same period, the number of domestic tourists reached over 29 million.
The city generated total tourism revenue of over VND184.6 trillion (US$7 billion) in the nine-month period.
According to the Department of Tourism, the 5.8 million international arrivals represent 69.2 percent of the city’s target for 2025.
Meanwhile, domestic arrivals have met 64.8 percent of the yearly goal.
Notably, tourism revenue has already reached 71 percent of the 2025 plan.
Currently, the city’s tourism sector is developing a range of signature tourism products. In addition to regular tours and experiences, new thematic products are being finalized.
Examples include the 'From the city to the sea via the river' itinerary and the 'coastal culture' series, which aim to reposition coastal destinations through spiritual, heritage, and ecological themes.
With only a few months left in the year, Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector remains confident about achieving optimistic results, noting that the city is in a golden period to revitalize its tourism industry, thanks to its diverse resources and vast market.
Following the merger with neighboring Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provinces, the city has adjusted its 2025 tourism targets, aiming to increase international arrivals by 30–40 percent and domestic arrivals by 15–20 percent.
The city set a target of welcoming about 10 million foreign visitors and 50 million domestic guests, earning VND290 trillion ($11 billion) in tourism revenue this year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
It also plans to double revenue from coastal, industrial, and cruise tourism products.
The city will accelerate digital and green transformation across all tourism management and operations.
Ho Chi Minh City is now home to 7,211 tourism service businesses, including 1,815 travel agencies and 5,396 accommodation establishments, offering a total of 92,468 rooms.
The city has 9,540 licensed tour guides.
