The municipal Department of Industry and Trade announced the event at a press conference on Thursday.
As part of the Shopping Season 2025 program, City Sale will take place at Ben Thanh station, Diamond Plaza, SC VivoCity, and Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien, following a successful earlier run at Parc Mall.
More than 500 domestic and international brands will participate, offering deep discounts on cosmetics, fashion, accessories, perfumes, and household items.
Brands featured include Gucci, Polo, Burberry, Versace, Nike, Adidas, Puma, L'Oréal, Whoo, Ohui, Derma, CNP, Casio, Citizen, and Furla.
For the first time, the underground space of metro line No. 1 is being used for shopping, linking directly to modern shopping centers, said Nguyen Minh Hung, deputy head of the department’s commercial management division.
Hung added that this provides a new and engaging shopping experience while integrating commercial activities with public transport.
“We expect this model to raise the number of visitors and shoppers by 30 to 50 percent soon,” he said.
Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, deputy director of the department, highlighted the first-time participation of two major banks, HDBank and Vikki Bank.
These banks will offer 10 to 20 percent cashback and vouchers for customers who open new accounts or make card-based purchases.
“The participation of banks not only adds value to the program but also supports the city and government’s drive to promote cashless payments,” Phuong said.
To further encourage digital transactions, banks and payment service providers will offer additional perks, including QR code and e-wallet discounts.
Phuong added that City Sale is not only about discounts on branded goods but also aims to blend commerce with tourism, develop modern outlet centers, and elevate Ho Chi Minh City’s status as a premier regional shopping destination.
In the long term, the Department of Industry and Trade plans to expand City Sale across the city’s distribution network and build it into an event that can rival Asia’s top shopping festivals.
According to the department, retail sales of goods and service revenue over the first seven months of this year reached VND1.07 quadrillion (US$40.5 billion), marking a 15.5 percent year-on-year increase—the highest in several years.
City Sale is considered a core component of the city’s strategy to meet its full-year growth target of 18 percent.
