The system, unveiled by the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Conservation and Vietnam Artificial Intelligence JSC at an event on Monday, allows tourists to purchase tickets through machines that integrate international payment methods and print tickets directly.

Visitors can also scan QR codes on their phones to access heritage information, suggested routes, and tailored experiences.

Phan Thanh Tuan, chairman and CEO of Vietnam Artificial Intelligence JSC, said the automated ticketing system reduces pressure on traditional ticket counters while improving convenience.

With nearly 20 languages integrated, international visitors can easily access information in their preferred language.

Tourists may still choose between traditional counters and the new machines.

The Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Conservation emphasized that smart tourism solutions are part of Vietnam’s digital transformation strategy, aiming to modernize management, improve service quality, and promote heritage values more effectively.

The system was designed to fit the unique characteristics of the ancient town, combining artificial intelligence with local cultural and tourism knowledge.

Tourism in Hoi An rebounded strongly in 2025, with international arrivals increasing and new markets opening alongside traditional ones.

The introduction of smart ticketing and tourism solutions is expected to strengthen Hoi An’s image as a friendly, modern destination aligned with global digital trends.

Authorities hope the initiative will support sustainable tourism development while preserving cultural heritage.
