Work on the Ba Ria Hospital, which is located on an area of more than 17,000 m² in Long Tam Ward, broke ground in August 2009 in accordance with international standards at a total cost of VND1.9 trillion ($89 million) from the State budget.

Of the amount, VND1.4 trillion ($65.6 million) was spent on construction while the remainder ($23.4 million) paid for medical equipment and tools.

The hospital has 700 beds, 20 clinical and nine paraclinical departments, and eight functional rooms. The facilities are located in 11 blocks, of which the highest has 17 floors.

The hospital is equipped with a CT 128 scanner, digital X-ray systems with sensors, digital subtraction angiography machines, advanced kidney dialysis machines and many other modern medical systems.

All patient rooms are equipped with air-conditioners and toilets and each room contains one to six beds.

The most notable feature of this modern clinic is a guesthouse with 140 beds intended for patients’ relatives to stay free of charge during the necessary period of taking care of patients.

Nguyen Van Nhiem, a man in the province's Chau Duc District, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that he arrived at the hospital on February 22 to take care of his ill mother and was then granted a free bed to stay in the hospital's guesthouse.

Nhiem said he was very pleased with the medical facilties of the hospital and with the service attitude of doctors and other health workers there.

“This is a hospital that both local residents and many generations of leaders of the provincial administration have long wished for,” said Dr. Pham Minh An, the hospital’s director.

The local health authorities have arranged a sufficient line-up of highly-qualified health workers, including doctors, to work at the Ba Ria Hospital, according to the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Online newspaper.

The new clinic is capable of applying the “smart hospital management system” model of the provincial Department of Health, the newspaper said.
