Humanoid robots steal spotlight at Ho Chi Minh City expo

Following the performance, the three robots returned to the exhibition booth of Le Hoang Trading Technology Company, drawing crowds eager to interact with the machines and learn more about the latest advances in robotics.

Ho Van Dat, a representative from the company, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) Online that the dancing humanoid robots are priced at VND200-600 million (US$7,620-$22,860) each.

More advanced humanoid models currently available on the market can cost as much as VND3 billion ($114,160).

“The key differences among humanoid robots lie in the number of motion joints and the capability of the central processing unit,” he said.

Robots equipped with more joints can perform movements with greater flexibility, precision and fluidity, enabling them to carry out increasingly complex tasks.

The company also revealed plans to introduce a humanoid robot measuring approximately 1.75 meters in height and weighing around 72 kilograms, bringing its dimensions close to those of an average adult.

Apart from humanoid robots, the firm is showcasing various AI-powered service robots designed for restaurants and cafés, including receptionist robots, food-serving robots, and autonomous cleaning robots, at the exhibition.

Global manufacturing technologies on display

MTA Vietnam 2026 is gathering over 450 brands from 18 countries and territories, including India, Canada, and Japan, presenting the latest technologies, equipment, and manufacturing solutions in precision engineering and industrial production.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Truong Thi, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, described the city as one of Vietnam's key economic growth engines, with manufacturing serving as a cornerstone of its economy.

He expects the exhibition to create opportunities for local supporting-industry enterprises to establish direct connections with leading manufacturers, foreign-invested companies, and domestic and international partners.

Such cooperation would help businesses better understand market demand, expand partnerships, and strengthen production capacity.

Thi also noted that the event provides companies with an opportunity to stay informed about the latest policies, technological developments, and industry trends, contributing to greater localization, stronger industrial linkages, and deeper integration into global value chains.

Alongside product displays, the expo features business matching sessions, technology consulting and transfer programs, as well as a series of seminars focusing on digital transformation, innovation and emerging technologies in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

MTA Vietnam 2026 runs through Saturday at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center.
