The bridge, an iconic crossing over the Red River, officially began construction on October 9, 2025.
It is set to connect Hanoi’s central core with Bo De Ward on the opposite riverbank.
Its starting point is at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong - Le Thanh Tong Streets in Cua Nam and Hai Ba Trung Wards, while the endpoint links to Nguyen Son Street in Long Bien and Bo De Wards.
Spanning nearly 4.2 kilometers, the project will include three major interchanges.
Currently, contractors are focusing on foundational work, particularly the construction of bored piles for the central piers in the Red River.
Favorable weather conditions, including dry skies and low river levels, are facilitating the work.

A riverside yard has also been set up to store construction materials, machinery, and equipment, which are frequently dispatched to the construction site.
However, work remains concentrated in the riverbed and riverside areas, while the approach roads have yet to begin owing to pending land clearance.

Hong Ha Ward has the highest number of households affected by land clearance among the wards involved.
A total of over 44,000 square meters of land will be reclaimed, including roughly 15,350 square meters from 308 households and individuals, 2,340 square meters from five organizations and businesses.
The remainder consists of riverbanks and existing transport land.
Local authorities reported that at the end of December 2025, a public consultation was held to inform residents about compensation, support, and resettlement policies related to the project.
The ward expects to complete land clearance within six to nine months and seeks the continued cooperation of affected residents.
The bridge is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
