The competition has drawn nearly 200 teachers and mentors worldwide.

The Vietnamese team is represented by 32 students.

Participants are divided into two age-based categories: Key Stage II (Grades 5–6) and Key Stage III (Grades 7–8).

All contestants compete in two mandatory rounds, including an individual round and a team round.

The examination content is selected from proposals submitted by participating countries' academic committees.

The individual round includes two parts: EMIC, which consists of 15 questions worth a total of 150 points, with a 90-minute time limit, and IWYMIC, also comprising 15 questions, totaling 120 points, with 120 minutes allowed.

In the team round, four students collaborate to solve 10 problems within 70 minutes.

This round emphasizes tight teamwork and coordination, with a maximum score of 400 points.

Le Thi Bich Thuan, director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, said that the competition is not only a platform for students to showcase their mathematical abilities, resilience, and passion, but also an opportunity for cultural exchange and international friendship.

"I hope that students will compete with integrity, unity, and creativity, learn from one another, and continue to spread their love for mathematics," said Thuan.

On the sidelines of the competition, the delegations of students and teachers will explore the city's renowned tourist attractions and participate in group activities.

The event also serves as a chance to promote the image of Da Nang and Vietnam to the international community.

This is the first time that Da Nang City has hosted the competition, said Tran Anh Tuan, vice-chairman of the municipal People's Committee.

He emphasized that the city aims to position itself as a reliable venue for global academic and intellectual events.

The competition offers a valuable opportunity for young participants to challenge themselves with complex problems, collaborate, and broaden their mathematical perspectives and practical applications.

The competition creates a dynamic and enriching environment for gifted students to sharpen their mathematical skills, explore creative problem-solving, and engage in academic exchange on an international stage.
