TOKYO -- Japan's National Police Agency on Sunday ordered prefectural police departments to tighten security at the U.S. embassy, consulates and military bases as well as facilities related to Jewish and Israel, following U.S. strikes on Iran.

The police will also step up patrolling at facilities related to Iran and Islam.
The moves come as Iran has signaled possible retaliation against the United States.
The police will be vigilant in preventing unexpected situations, including at protests.
