The new entity, Meiko Electronics Yen Quang Co., Ltd. (MKYQ), is expected to be established on April 25 in Amber Yen Quang Industrial Park in northern Phu Tho Province.
The move is intended to meet anticipated growth in demand from customers advancing supply chain localization across the ASEAN region, with such demand projected to exceed the production capacity of the group’s existing plants as well as those currently under construction.
Meiko Electronics said it has therefore decided to establish MKYQ and build a new manufacturing plant in Vietnam, according to its press release issued on Wednesday.
The expansion will strengthen the group’s PCB production capacity as its existing facilities in Vietnam approach full utilization.
The Japanese firm, the country’s leading PCB manufacturer, has operated in Vietnam since 2006, when it opened its first plant in Hanoi, and has steadily expanded its manufacturing footprint in the country.
It now operates five PCB manufacturing and assembly facilities in Vietnam, with further expansion underway.
In July 2025, Meiko Electronics inaugurated the first phase of its Hoa Binh facility in Phu Tho, its fifth plant in the Southeast Asian country.
The plant is expected to produce PCBs for Apple’s iPhone devices and is scheduled to begin mass production in fiscal year 2027.
In addition to these five facilities, the group has also recently invested an additional $255 million in a new plant in Quang Minh Industrial Park in Hanoi, which will manufacture PCBs for Samsung’s latest smartphones, including models with potential artificial intelligence integration.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026.
With total planned investment in Vietnam approaching $1 billion, the company said the country has become a key manufacturing hub in its global supply chain.
It added that the continued expansion is expected to create additional jobs and further support the development of Vietnam’s electronics industry.
