The train, unveiled at a railcar shop in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Monday, carries a paint scheme featuring "jubilee blue," the signature color for the anniversary event at the theme park in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, as well as Mickey Mouse and friends near the doors. Its interior is also decorated with unique Disney designs, including on pillowcases and tables.
The Sparkling Dreams Shinkansen train will make up to two round trips a day mainly for "Hikari" and "Kodama" services between Tokyo Station and Shin-Osaka Station until mid-March 2027.
"We want passengers to enjoy Shinkansen rides themselves on this special occasion," JR Tokai President Shunsuke Niwa said at the unveiling ceremony.
Wataru Takahashi, president of Tokyo Disney Resort operator Oriental Land Co., expressed hope that DisneySea visitors "get excited while on train" even before arriving at the park.
