The incident occurred around 5:08 pm on the road to Cat Cat Village in Sa Pa Ward amid heavy rains.
Video circulated on social media appeared to show a black car struck by falling rocks and pushed down a slope.

Phan Dang Toan, chairman of Sa Pa Ward's People's Committee, confirmed the landslide and said the driver escaped safely.
The region has experienced widespread rain and thunderstorms due to storm Bualoi, which made landfall in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam in the early hours of Monday.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned of rainfall between 70 and 150 mm in Lao Cai, Son La and Phu Tho Provinces through Tuesday, with isolated areas exceeding 250 mm.
Authorities have issued warnings of flash floods and landslides in multiple northern and north-central provinces, including Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang and Thanh Hoa.
