LuLu Group chairman oversees flight carrying Vietnamese produce to UAE

The Middle East-headquartered hypermarket chain LuLu Hypermarket has launched its second charter flight, directed by M.A. Yusuff Ali, chairman and managing director of LuLu Group International, to transport Vietnamese agricultural products to the United Arab Emirates, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency of Foreign Trade.

The cargo flight was part of ongoing efforts to expand imports of Vietnamese produce into the Middle Eastern market.

The flight carried 98 metric tons of Vietnamese agricultural products exported by MAY Exports Vietnam Company.

The aircraft departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.

The ministry said that LuLu Group International’s continued expansion of procurement activities and organization of charter flights for Vietnamese goods reflects growing confidence among Middle Eastern markets in Vietnamese businesses.

The initiative is also expected to create additional opportunities to boost production and exports to the region, which is considered highly promising for Vietnamese agriculture.

The ministry said that the charter flights carry particular significance amid prolonged geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have disrupted international shipping routes, increased logistics costs, and created uncertainty in delivery schedules.

Maintaining these charter flights is viewed not only as a timely logistics solution for securing supply for distribution systems in the UAE, but also as evidence of the rapid adaptability of Vietnamese enterprises in response to global trade fluctuations.

For fresh agricultural products, transportation time is critical to preserving quality and freshness upon arrival to consumers.

Charter flights significantly reduce shipping times, helping minimize risks during the delivery period while maintaining supply chain stability between Vietnam and the Middle East, where demand for high-quality tropical produce continues to rise.

While many international firms remain cautious due to regional instability, LuLu Group International, which owns the LuLu Hypermarket chain worldwide, decided to further expand purchases of Vietnamese goods, demonstrating strong confidence from Middle Eastern importers.

Its decision is expected to strengthen the position of Vietnamese products within the leading regional hypermarket chain and generate positive momentum for exports to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets more broadly.

The ministry underlined that the successful launch of the second charter flight also raised expectations for the establishment of regular transportation routes between Vietnam and the Middle East in the future, laying the groundwork for higher agricultural export turnover, stronger branding for Vietnamese products, and greater diversification of export markets.

The first charter flight carrying 98 metric tons of farm produce from Vietnam to the Middle East departed on April 18.
