Police said Thanh had an ongoing dispute with N.T., 28, a neighbor in the same building, located at 176 Dinh Cong Street, Phuong Liet Ward, Hanoi.
At around 10:00 pm on Saturday, Thanh saw N.T. in the lobby, where a dispute between them erupted and he demanded an apology from her.
After she refused, Thanh repeatedly punched and slapped her.

The beating, captured on the surveillance camera system and widely shared online, continued with kicks and more blows as four children looked on.
The attack ended only when a security guard and later several others intervened.
A video widely shared online shows Dang Chi Thanh, 31, beating up a woman in front of several kids at Sky Central apartment building, located at 176 Dinh Cong Street, Phuong Liet Ward, Hanoi.
Upon receiving N.T.’s report on the assault at midnight, the Phuong Liet Ward police promptly verified the incident and took her for a medical examination.
Thanh was brought in for questioning at 10:00 am on Sunday.
He was placed in criminal detention on Sunday afternoon.
