For several months now, Tran Le Anh Cuong, a 41-year-old resident of Khue My Ward in Da Nang City, central Vietnam, has been riding around the city offering free tire tube replacements and gasoline to people whose vehicles break down on the road.

His journey of kindness began during a trip from Hoi An back to his home.

On the way, he saw a woman and her child pushing a motorbike under the scorching sun because of a flat tire.

The image left a deep impression on him and sparked an idea.

The very next day, Cuong equipped his motorbike with a small box, strapped to the back seat, carrying spare inner tubes and gasoline containers.

He began helping anyone in need of roadside assistance.

“The image of that mother and child stayed with me,” Cuong recalled.

“I kept wondering: what if it were me or a loved one stranded on a deserted road with no repair shop nearby? Walking the bike would be exhausting.

“That night, I told my wife I wanted to help others on the road. She supported me, and the next morning, I started right away.”

Tran Le Anh Cuong often rides around Da Nang City, ready to assist anyone who unfortunately gets a flat tire or runs out of fuel on the road.

Since then, a box labeled 'Free tire tube replacement + free gasoline' has accompanied him on every street he rides.

With just a few bottles of gasoline, some inner tubes, and a pump, Cuong has helped many people get back on the road more quickly and more easily.

Cuong works in event tent setup and rental. After finishing his job each day, he rides around Da Nang, ready to assist anyone who has a flat tire or runs out of fuel.

He replaces inner tubes for free and gives each person enough fuel to reach the nearest gas station.

When people ask why he does not charge for his services, Cuong replies, “I think if I spend a little of my own money and cut back a bit on my own expenses, but I can help someone avoid walking a long distance and bring joy to them—and to myself—that’s worth more than being paid.”

All the costs for the fuel and inner tubes come out of his own pocket.

Although many people have offered to contribute after seeing the impact of his work, Cuong politely declines. Occasionally, he accepts support from family members.

“Many people say they'll wait until they’re rich or more well-off to start helping others. But I don’t think that way,” Cuong said.

“You can help others at any time. If you have little, give a little; if you have more, give more. Don’t wait until you're rich—who knows when that will be?”
