Man found dead in rickshaw in cold weather in north-central Vietnam: police

A man has been found dead in his trishaw, allegedly due to cold weather, in tropical Vietnam this week.

Tran Lu, 54, was discovered motionless on Monday in his rickshaw on Duong Dinh Nghe Street, Tan Son Ward, Thanh Hoa City, which the capital of Thanh Hoa Province, located in the north-central region, Tran Thi Hoa, Tan Son chairwoman, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the same day.

Police examined the scene and found no sign of murder so they concluded the man might have died of cold, as the temperature plummeted to 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday night.

In tropical Vietnam, the norm is 30 degrees Celsius.

Lu came from Yen Dinh District, about 30km from Thanh Hoa City, local authorities said.

He often traveled on Duong Dinh Nghe to make a living and slept under the Phu Son overpass on the same road at night, locals said.

Tan Son officials have offered VND3 million (US$130) in support and paid for a car to carry him home for funeral rituals.
