The suspect was identified as Nguyen Nam Dai Thuan, a resident of Ea Kao Ward, believed to be the common-law husband of one of the victims.
The incident occurred at around 1:00 am in a house located in Alley 20, Nguyen Khoa Dang Street.
Thuan entered the home of his common-law wife, Nguyen Thi Kim H., using a knife to attack members of H.'s family.
Thuan and H. had a longstanding relationship.
Though the couple was not legally married, they shared a three-year-old child and had been living together despite ongoing personal conflicts.
The victims were identified as H., Tran Thi D., H.'s mother, Bui Huu Ng., H.'s younger brother, and Tran Tan P., H.'s son from a previous relationship.
Three of the victims, including H., her mother, and her brother, died at the scene, while the fourth victim sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at a local hospital.

After the attack, the suspect reportedly went behind the house, changed out of his bloodstained clothing, and fled the scene.
After being notified of the case, police swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt.
By early morning, Thuan was arrested for questioning.
Police have classified the case as a particularly serious criminal offense and continue to investigate the motive behind the killings.
