Man threatens bystanders with machete after brutally beating woman in Ho Chi Minh City

Bystanders were threatened by the machete-wielding man after they prevented him from hitting the victim

Employees of a beverage shop in Ho Chi Minh City were threatened by a machete-wielding man after they prevented him from brutally beating a woman who he claimed to be his wife.

The incident happened in front of a milk tea shop on To Vinh Dien Street in Linh Chieu Ward, Thu Duc District at around 11:45 pm on Saturday, L.T.C., owner of the store confirmed on Sunday.

A woman, around 25 years old, was walking along the sidewalk when a man, about 30, chased after her on his motorbike.

He then picked up a rock on the road to threaten the woman and violently forced her onto his vehicle.

As the victim resisted, he brutally beat her until she fell on the ground.

Several employees of the milk tea shop rushed to help the woman, but the man became even more aggressive and did not let her go.

“We had to help her as it was the right thing to do. He started threatening us, stating that the woman was his wife,” N.Q.T., 27, one of the employees, recalled.

The man only left the scene when more people arrived to assist.

He returned to the store about 10 minutes later and threatened everyone with a machete.

After an employee closed the door of the shop, the man slammed his motorbike into the door and repeatedly yelled at them before leaving.

The entire incident was caught on CCTV installed in front of the venue.

The case has been reported to police in Linh Chieu Ward.
