Song Da Water Investment JSC (Viwasupco), Hanoi’s water supplier, has announced a scheduled 19-hour service cut this weekend in the capital city for new pipework connection.
The pumps from Viwasupco to its customers in Hanoi will be completely closed starting 8:00 pm on Saturday until 3:00 pm on Sunday.
“We will temporarily shut down the water supply to connect the old water main to a newly completed water pipe,” said Nguyen Xuan Quy, general director of Viwasupco.
The company noted that residents should store water for use during the service outage and it may take more time for clean water to reach residences in high and downstream areas after the water supply is restored.
This is not the first time that Viwasupco, which is supplying water to residential areas in Ha Dong, Thanh Xuan, Nam Tu Liem Districts and a part of other districts in Hanoi, has cut its service.
Last month, an oil leak incident forced the company to halt its supply, upsetting the daily life of hundreds of thousands of people in the capital city.
In 2019, another waste oil problem disturbing Viwasupco’s upstream resource caused water pollution and also led to the supplier’s temporary service cut.
