The Miss Grand International Organization announced the change on Tuesday, saying the competition would return to the country where its journey began.
“Thailand is officially the host country of Miss Grand International 2027, as we return to where the journey began for a milestone unlike any other: 15 years of history, 15 years of grand” the organization said.
“Fifteen years of history have led us to this moment. Now, something extraordinary awaits, new possibilities, new experiences, and a celebration created for this once-in-a-generation milestone.”
“The next chapter of Grand begins where the first was written,” the organization wrote on its Instagram account.
The announcement marks a reversal from the organization’s previous plan to stage the 2027 edition in Vietnam.
Earlier in September, Miss Grand International president Nawat Itsaragrisil said the competition would still be held in Vietnam and that the Vietnamese side had already paid the hosting fee.
The organization has not publicly explained why the host country was changed.
Such changes are not unprecedented for Miss Grand International.
The 2026 edition was initially scheduled to take place in India, but organizers later canceled activities there and moved the competition to Thailand.
Vietnam has hosted Miss Grand International twice, in 2017 and 2023.
Vietnam’s track record at Miss Grand International
First held in Thailand in 2013, Miss Grand International has seen several Vietnamese contestants achieve notable results over the years.
Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien made history in 2021 when she became the first Vietnamese contestant to win the Miss Grand International crown.
In 2023, when Vietnam hosted the competition for the second time, Le Hoang Phuong finished as fourth runner-up and also won the Best National Costume award.
Other Vietnamese representatives, including Nguyen Thi Loan, Nguyen Tran Huyen My, Bui Phuong Nga, Nguyen Ha Kieu Loan, Nguyen Le Ngoc Thao, and Doan Thien An, have also placed in previous editions.
Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, however, failed to place at Miss Grand International 2025.

Miss Grand International 2026 is currently under way in Thailand, with Emoura Pham representing Vietnam.
The 1.7-meter-tall Vietnamese-British contestant previously studied in the United States and is making her debut at an international beauty pageant.
Emoura Pham has made an impression in the early stages of the competition, winning the Grand Day Experience voting round and advancing to the top 15 of the talent competition following a singing and dance performance to Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso.
The Miss Grand International 2026 semifinal is scheduled for October 7, with the grand final set for October 10 in Thailand.
