At around midday on Friday, a joint task force from the city’s traffic police division and the economic police division stopped a suspicious passenger bus with a Lao license plate traveling southbound on National Highway 1A in Phong Thai Ward, Hue City.
Upon inspection of the vehicle's cargo compartment, officers found 19 styrofoam boxes wrapped in plastic. Inside were large quantities of chicken cartilage emitting a foul odor.
The total weight of the seized goods was some one metric ton.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Nguyen Van Khoa from Hoa Vang Ward in Da Nang City, admitted he was transporting the goods from a border gate in Laos to Da Nang for distribution.
The police are continuing to investigate the origin of the shipment.
