Speeding accounted for 2,221 of the violations, according to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.

Besides, over 2,700 vehicles were impounded, 332 driver's licenses were revoked, over 1,140 were docked points, and 48 drivers were booked for overloading cargo.

The department also reported 65 traffic accidents nationwide the same day, resulting in 28 fatalities and 56 injuries.

While the number of accidents and deaths decreased compared to the second day of last year's holiday, the number of injuries increased.

All accidents occurred on roadways, with no incidents reported on railways or inland waterways.

A serious accident occurred in the early morning in northern Vietnam, when a tractor-trailer carrying a tank veered off National Highway 10 and crashed into a roadside home in An Lao District, Hai Phong City.

The tractor-trailer, driven by a local man identified as V.H.M., 38, was traveling from Thai Binh Province to Quang Ninh Province when it collided with the house of H.V.D.

The crash destroyed the house, damaged two motorbikes and other personal property.

The driver suffered a broken leg, and the vehicle’s front end was heavily damaged in the wreckage.

Elsewhere, Hanoi was hit by strong thunderstorms early on Thursday, causing several trees to fall along Thang Long Boulevard and surrounding areas.

These posed road hazards, but traffic forces responded swiftly to clear the debris and ensure safe passage.

Earlier, at 11:22 am on Wednesday, a collision between a tractor-trailer and a motorbike on National Highway 51 in southeastern Vietnam left two riders dead at the scene.

The department added that waterway police handled 194 violations, while railway officers addressed three.

The National Traffic Safety Committee reported that traffic in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City remained smooth throughout Thursday.

Traffic police nationwide remained fully deployed, ensuring stable signal light systems and effective law enforcement.

The committee noted high public compliance with road traffic laws.
