At 1:00 pm the same day, the tropical depression’s center was located in the northeastern East Vietnam Sea with maximum sustained winds of 39-49 kph and gusts up to 62-74 kph.

It was moving west-southwest at 10-15 kph and is expected to strengthen in the next 24 hours.

By 1:00 pm on Thursday, the system will be about 380 kilometers east of Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) special zone, with winds reaching 39-61 kph and gusts up to 75-88 kph.

Within 24 to 48 hours, it will possibly track westward at about 15 kph.

By 1:00 pm on Friday, it is forecast to strengthen to 50-61 kph, gusting up to 88 kph, as it moves near the Hoang Sa special zone.

The national weather agency warned that over the next three days, the depression will continue westward at 10-15 kph.

The system may bring winds of 39-61 kph and gusts up to 88 kph in the northeastern East Vietnam Sea, with waves rising 2-4 meters and rough seas expected.

Fishing vessels operating in the affected waters are advised to take precautionary measures against thunderstorms, squalls, strong winds, and large waves.

Last Saturday, a tropical depression in the East Vietnam Sea intensified into storm Kajiki, making it the fifth storm to hit the maritime area this year.

Kajiki made landfall in the north-central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh on Monday afternoon.

The storm raged in the north-central region for over 10 hours, leaving many areas in Ha Tinh and Nghe An devastated and causing landslides and flooding in Thanh Hoa Province.
