ENZ, which is New Zealand’s government agency in charge of promoting the country’s education internationally, said the activities are designed to give Vietnamese high school students a chance to experience New Zealand’s higher education system and hear directly from successful alumni.
The simulated university lectures, introduced by ENZ in 2022, will be taught online by lecturers from New Zealand universities and institutes from September 20 to October 5.
Students in grades 10 to 12 will explore various subjects such as artificial intelligence, data science, animation design, game programming, astrophysics, food science, culinary arts, international business, supply chain management, entrepreneurship, education, languages, and political science.
This year, ENZ is expanding the program to all interested Vietnamese high school students, not just those from its partner schools.

To complement the lectures, ENZ will host four virtual exchange sessions on September 6, 7, 13, and 14, with the participation of 14 Vietnamese alumni working in diverse fields.
Discussions will cover the value of New Zealand degrees, job opportunities, experiences in multinational corporations, career stability, and tips for landing roles at international organizations.
In addition, New Zealand’s Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics announced more flexible entry requirements for Vietnamese students starting from the 2025-26 academic year.
Applicants will now only need a grade point average of at least 7 out of 10 in four relevant grade-12 subjects and a passing score in Vietnam’s high school graduation exam, instead of completing the first year at a Vietnamese university, or a foundation year, or vocational certificate.
Ben Burrowes, ENZ’s Asia regional director, said these initiatives reaffirm Vietnam as one of New Zealand’s priority education markets.
Around 1,700 Vietnamese students are currently studying in New Zealand, supported by scholarship programs dedicated to Vietnam.
