As South Korea is experiencing unseasonably hot weather, many are planning vacations earlier, elevating Nha Trang to the status of the most sought-after international destination, according to a recent article of the newspaper, citing global travel platform Agoda.

Agoda’s analysis of hotel-search data for June and July shows that Nha Trang ranks ahead of all other overseas destinations preferred by South Koreans.

Tokyo, which held the top position last year, has now fallen to second place, followed in order by Fukuoka and Osaka in Japan and Da Nang on Vietnam’s central coast.

Agoda attributes the shift to global inflation, which appears to be steering travelers toward nearby destinations with reasonable prices and shorter flights.

The trend of ‘early summer’ vacations allows South Korean office workers to benefit from lower accommodation costs and avoid peak-season crowding.

South Korea is now the largest source market for international visitors to Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa Province generally, accounting for nearly half of all arrivals.

According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, more than one million South Koreans visited the province in the first five months of this year, a 4.1-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
