Nha Trang emerges as South Korea's second-most searched destination for Chuseok

Nha Trang, a beach destination in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, ranked second among the overseas destinations most searched by South Korean travelers for this year's Chuseok holiday, also known as Korean Thanksgiving, behind Japan's Tokyo, according to global travel app Skyscanner.

The ranking was based on a survey by Skyscanner of 1,000 South Korean travelers, with 56 percent saying they planned to travel during the Chuseok holiday, Seoul Economic Daily reported on Sunday, citing Skyscanner.

As one of South Korea's most important holidays, this year's Chuseok will run from September 24 to 26, with many people taking additional days off to extend their vacations.

Searches for flights departing from South Korea during this year's Chuseok surged 92.4 percent year on year, the survey found.

Tokyo topped the list of the 10 most-searched destinations, accounting for 17.8 percent of searches, followed by Nha Trang at 13.9 percent and Sapporo, Japan, at 13.8 percent.

Two other Vietnamese destinations also made the list, with Da Nang accounting for 7.4 percent of searches and Phu Quoc 6.9 percent, ranking sixth and eighth, respectively.

The growing interest in Nha Trang comes as South Korean travelers are increasingly exploring destinations in Vietnam beyond Da Nang, which has traditionally been one of their favorite destinations in the country, according to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO).

The Korea Times also featured Nha Trang last year as a leading summer destination for South Korean travelers.

Convenient flight connections between major cities in South Korea and Vietnam, along with frequent flights and Vietnam's open visa policy, are among the factors driving South Korean tourist arrivals in Vietnam, according to Skyscanner.

The survey also found that South Korean travelers tended to favor destinations suitable for short and affordable trips during the Chuseok break.

Vietnam was the second-most popular destination worldwide among South Korean travelers in May 2026, after Japan, attracting around 278,000 visitors, according to KTO data.
