Outgoing South Korean ambassador honored for strengthening Vietnam ties

Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung presented the insignia to outgoing Ambassador Choi during their meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Congratulating Ambassador Choi on successfully completing his tenure in Vietnam, Minister Trung praised his active and constructive role in promoting cooperation between the two countries.

He highlighted several achievements in Vietnam-South Korea relations during the ambassador’s term, including regular high-level delegation exchanges that helped deepen political trust between the two sides.

During Ambassador Choi’s term, South Korea continued to maintain its position as one of Vietnam’s leading economic partners, while people-to-people exchanges expanded and the two countries strengthened cooperation and mutual support at regional and international forums.

Minister Trung said the insignia represented a prestigious recognition of Ambassador Choi’s sentiments toward Vietnam and his valuable contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

The minister outlined key directions for advancing Vietnam-South Korea relations in the coming period and affirmed that Vietnam would work with South Korea to effectively implement agreements and cooperation commitments reached by the leaders of both countries.

He welcomed South Korea’s willingness to continue supporting Vietnam during its new stage of development.

Minister Trung expressed confidence that Ambassador Choi, with his extensive experience, deep understanding of Vietnam, and strong affection for the country, would continue contributing to the further development of practical, effective, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, regardless of his future role.

For his part, Ambassador Choi thanked Minister Trung and the foreign ministry for their continued support, close coordination, and favorable conditions that enabled him to successfully fulfill his duties during his tenure in Vietnam.

He said he was honored to have witnessed and contributed to the advancement of the comprehensive strategic partnership between South Korea and Vietnam.

Sharing his positive impressions of Vietnam and its people, particularly the country’s socio-economic development, Ambassador Choi said Vietnam has become one of South Korea’s most important partners in implementing its regional foreign policy, while South Korea has become a trusted partner of Vietnam in various fields of cooperation.

The outgoing ambassador said he will continue contributing to the development of Vietnam-South Korea relations after returning to South Korea, regardless of what position he may hold in the future.
