Over 50,000 expired children’s toothpaste, cosmetics products given new expiry dates in Hanoi

Market surveillance officials in Hanoi earlier this week seized over 50,000 expired children’s toothpaste, cosmetics, and beauty products to which employees of a store were giving new expiry dates.

The Hanoi market surveillance agency coordinated with police in Bac Tu Liem District launched unannounced inspections of five stores on Nguyen Dinh Tu Street.

They found that the 50,000 imported products, weighing more than 20 metric tons, had expired at one of the stores.

However, the store's employees were erasing the original expiry dates printed on the products and replacing them with new dates several years later.

The owner of the store is Lai Vu Thang, a 36-year-old resident of Bac Tu Liem District.

Thang failed to prove the origin of the products.
