It urged Vietnamese citizens to carefully verify information before making any contributions.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the embassy said it had received reports that some organizations and individuals in Vietnam have recently launched fundraising campaigns for Gaza.
“The Embassy of Palestine would like to officially clarify that it has no connection with these organizations or individuals, and it has no information regarding where the collected donations have been directed,” the statement reads.
The embassy called on the Vietnamese people to carefully verify information about such organizations and individuals before making any contributions to avoid non-transparent practices or unfortunate incidents.
At the same time, it expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people, extending “heartfelt thanks for the immense and precious affection of countless Vietnamese friends during the most difficult times.”
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has drawn global attention, including in Vietnam, as the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas continues to escalate.
The Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack that left more than 1,200 people in Israel dead and around 250 others taken hostage.
According to Palestinian health authorities, Israel’s subsequent military campaign has killed more than 64,000 people in Gaza, displaced nearly the entire population, and triggered a severe hunger crisis.
Since the outbreak of the conflict, Vietnam has consistently voiced opposition to violence against civilians and called on all parties to exercise restraint, resolve disputes through peaceful means, comply with international law and the United Nations Charter, and create conditions for ceasefire negotiations.
