An initial report indicates the fatal incident occurred at around 5:30 pm that day.
The tourist, H.Q.T., 36, from Ho Chi Minh City, fell from a paraglider piloted by L.M.P., 41, of Tropical Forest Trading and Services One Member Co., Ltd., the paragliding service provider.
The tragedy happened when P. was piloting the paraglider from the summit of Son Tra Mountain toward the landing area.
T. fell into a forested area near Bien Dong Resort on the peninsula, while P. continued flying for a short distance before crashing onto a coastal sandbank.
Rescuers later found T. dead at the scene while P. was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
In response, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches has suspended all paragliding services on the peninsula pending the outcome of the investigation.
A spokesperson for the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism confirmed the accident and said the department will submit a detailed report on the case.
The department also noted that Tropical Forest is one of five companies licensed by the city to provide paragliding services on Son Tra Peninsula.
