Passenger bus crash kills 3 in northern Vietnam

A passenger bus skidded off a national highway in heavy rain and fog and overturned in northern Vietnam’s Son La Province early on Saturday, killing three people at the scene and injuring one, traffic police said.

The crash occurred at about 4:15 am on National Highway 6 when a 36-seater bus traveling from Hanoi to Son La veered off the road at kilometer marker 225+150 in Chieng Hac Commune and overturned after hitting a roadside drainage culvert.

There were about 18 people on board, including 14 passengers, two drivers, and two attendants. 

One injured person was taken to Yen Chau Hospital for treatment, police said.

Preliminary tests found no alcohol or drugs in the two drivers' systems.

Rain, dense fog, and slippery road conditions were reported in the area at the time of the crash. 

Rescue teams were working to recover bodies trapped inside the vehicle, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
