According to the Department of Vietnam Customs, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning at the arrival hall at Terminal T2.
Through screening and risk analysis, officers identified four passengers showing suspicious behavior.
A joint inspection team involving airport customs, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Sub-Department, border police, and Hanoi’s economic crime division was deployed.
The search revealed 31 gold-colored bars hidden in bras, underwear, and even worn on the wrist.
Passenger P.T.H. carried the largest amount, with 10 bars weighing about five kilograms.
Others, identified as V.T.M., N.V.L., and C.S.M.H., concealed between 1.1 and 3.5 kilograms each.
The total seized weighed approximately 12.3 kilograms.
Authorities said the case shows clear signs of law violations.
The suspects and seized items have been handed over to Hanoi police for further investigation.
The confiscated metal is now undergoing examination to determine its exact type and market value.
The Department of Vietnam Customs added that further information will be released once official assessment results are available.
