H.T.D., who was receiving treatment at the hospital’s Ophthalmology Department, lost a bag containing several gold rings and necklaces in the outpatient area at noon on Tuesday.
Fortunately, P.T. Thoa, an outpatient, found the bag and immediately handed it over to the customer service desk under the Quality Management and Social Work Department.
Staff quickly coordinated with the administration office and security team to verify ownership and identify the rightful owner.
By Tuesday afternoon, H.T.D. and her daughter received the gold intact, expressing deep gratitude and relief.
Hospital officials praised Thoa’s honesty and responsibility, calling her actions a shining example of integrity.
They also highlighted the hospital’s rapid response, which ensured the patient’s rights were protected.
Phan Canh Phap, head of the hospital’s administration office, said that the hospital has implemented cashless payment systems.
He reminded patients to avoid carrying large amounts of cash or valuables when seeking treatment to reduce risks of theft or loss.
Security cameras have also helped cut down on theft incidents, but with around 10,000 visitors daily, patients and families are still advised to safeguard their belongings.
