On Monday, vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Loc Ha welcomed the delegation.
Notably, all participating enterprises are led by members of the Pei family in China, whose expertise spans infrastructure construction, new energy, tourism, healthcare, education, environmental protection, restaurants, and hotels.
Ho Chi Minh City a FDI magnet
During the working session, vice-chairman Ha highlighted the development potential of the newly merged Ho Chi Minh City.
According to him, following the consolidation of three localities that previously had distinct development profiles, the new Ho Chi Minh City now accounts for one-quarter of national GDP and contributes 30 percent of the state budget.

Going forward, the city will prioritize developing new energy, pharmaceuticals, and environmental industries, while also continuing to invest in critical infrastructure, particularly road transport, expressways, railways, and ring roads.
Ha affirmed that the strengths of the enterprises in the delegation, including new-energy vehicles (NEVs), innovation, and environmental treatment, align closely with the city’s development orientation.
Ho Chi Minh City, he said, stands ready to facilitate cooperation with Chinese partners.
Beyond economic cooperation among businesses and investors, Ha underscored the importance of strengthening ties between localities of the two countries, including sister-city relationships.
He added: “Given the two-tier government structure and the recent completion of the merger of three localities, Ho Chi Minh City will review its previous sister-city arrangements with Chinese localities at the provincial and former district levels, in order to plan and continue nurturing these relationships in line with the current context.”

Proposed cooperation projects
Representing the delegation, Pei Yong Zhi (Bui Quang Hien), chairman of Inner Mongolia Hengda Road and Bridge Company, said he was delighted to visit the beautiful and vibrant Ho Chi Minh City, and even more pleased to see local residents living and working in peace and stability.
He emphasized that this business trip served both as an opportunity for family members to visit descendants of the Pei clan in Vietnam and to explore business cooperation opportunities.
Based on the strengths of the enterprises in the delegation and the needs of Ho Chi Minh City, Pei Yong Zhi proposed several cooperation projects, including a China-Vietnam industrial park specializing in green building materials, construction of waste-treatment facilities, and cooperation in tourism, healthcare, green energy, and agricultural exports.

Huang Quan, former director of the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and currently an advisor to the Guangdong China-Vietnam Friendship Association, noted that during the working trip, the delegation would attend the plaque-unveiling ceremony of the China-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Cooperation Office.
The delegation is also considering the establishment of a Pei clan liaison office in Ho Chi Minh City to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation.
