Ho Chi Minh City police nabbed two local men who were caught snatching a cellphone from a pedestrian in the downtown area on Wednesday night.
At around 9:40 pm, Nguyen Hoang Phuc, 27, and Nguyen Huynh Anh Khoa, 22, approached and snatched an iPhone from a man standing on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street in District 3, police said.
During their attempted escape, they were spotted and chased after by local mobile patrol and functional forces.

Police chased the snatchers for three kilometers before apprehending them near the intersection of Ton That Tung and Bui Thi Xuan Streets in District 1.
Phuc and Khoa, along with their possessions and vehicles, were taken to the local police station for further investigation.
Preliminary information revealed that Phuc had been sent to prison before for using drugs and robbery.
