
Japanese pianist Mari Terada, who had a long time studying piano in Germany, will perform for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City at a solo concert on November 1.
Titled “Autumn Dream,” the event is held by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in HCMC to conclude the German month with lots of activities for Germany people in Vietnam in October.
“We organize the concert as a highlight for October’s activities. It reflects the relationship between the three countries Germany, Japan and Vietnam which meet and connect through music,” Dr. Hans-Dieter Stell, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in HCMC spoke at the press conference announcing the concert.
During the around one-hour-and-a-half concert, Mari will perform masterpieces by world’s renowned composers including F. Chopin, J.Brahms, C.Debussy, F.Liszt and M. Mussorgsky.
“Germany is where I took my first steps into music. I studied and got mature there. Although I was born in another country, Germany is an indispensable part of my life,” Mari Terada said. “Music is a language which helps people come closer together,” she added.
“Autumn Dreams” will take place for free at 8pm at HCMC Conservatory of Music, 112 Nguyen Du Street in District 1.
Mari Terada began to play the piano at the age of 5. At age 7, she moved to the US with her family. During her stay in America, she won several prizes at competitions including SYMF Competition and Southern California Bach Festival. She then moved to Germany with her family. From 1992 to 1995, Mari studied at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in France. One year after, she studied chamber music with Riccardo Brengola and Shuku Iwasaki at Academia Musicale Chigiana, Italy, where she received an honorary diploma. Mari Terada performs not only as a soloist, but also as chamber musician and accompanist. She’s presently a member of the Japan Federal Music Organization. |
