Picasso works to be auctioned for Vietnamese children

Two paintings by famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso will be auctioned in France next month to support underprivileged children in Vietnam.

The two works, Palette et Tete de Taureau (Palette and Bull Head) and Femme Assise en Robe Grise (Woman Sitting in Grey Dress), will be sold at the Impressionist & Modern Art Sale in Paris on June 6, India’s The Economic Times reported.

They come from a personal collection of Picasso’s granddaughter, Marina Picasso, who has conducted much charity work in Vietnam, France and Switzerland for the sake of disadvantaged children and adolescents.

It is estimated that Palette et Tete de Taureau, painted in 1938, will fetch $1.3-1.9 million, while the other, produced in 1943, is hoped to bring in $3.2-4.5 million.

Marina Picasso will donate all of the profits to orphans in the Ho Chi Minh City-based Thu Duc SOS Village and disadvantaged children at Paediatrics Hospital No 1, also located in the city, according to Vietnam’s Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) newspaper.
