Pile-up between 9 vehicles leaves many injured on Ho Chi Minh City expressway

Many people were injured after nine vehicles collided in a serial traffic accident on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway on Tuesday night.

The crash took place on the slope of the Long Thanh Bridge, which connects Ho Chi Minh City and southern Dong Nai Province, near the Long Phuoc toll station at 7:45 pm.

At the scene, the nine vehicles were seriously damaged.

Rescuers rushed seven injured people to Le Van Thinh Hospital, about 12 kilometers away, for emergency treatment while traffic police officers stopped traffic in both directions on the expressway until 10:50 pm to examine the scene.

In the meantime, officers also detoured Ho Chi Minh City-bounding vehicles that were stuck in the expressway section near the scene to help them continue their journeys.

An investigation has been launched to find out the cause.
