The investigation police agency under the provincial Department of Public Security on Saturday announced the prosecution of four executives of Detech Konnai JSC, a Vietnamese company headquartered in Hanoi that operates a coffee processing factory in Hung Yen.

The suspects include Vu Thi Huong, 51, the company’s managing director; Truong Viet Dung, 50, factory manager; Tran Huu The, 39, deputy factory manager; and Nguyen Huu Khai, 24, production team leader.

All four have been charged with producing counterfeit food products after investigators, acting on a tip-off, raided the company’s factory and uncovered the production of multiple fake instant coffee brands.

At the site, officers seized 12,566 boxes of counterfeit instant coffee containing 198,698 sachets, along with an additional 25,250 unpackaged sachets ready for distribution.

In total, authorities confiscated 223,948 fake coffee sachets.

The products were labelled under various names, including ‘Ca phe muoi Rock’ (Rock salted coffee), ‘Ca phe hoa tan socola va bac ha Crush’ (Crush chocolate and mint instant coffee), ‘Ca phe dua Chill’ (Chill coconut coffee), ‘Ca phe sua Boost’ (Boost milk coffee), and ‘Ca phe nhan sam Life’ (Life ginseng coffee).

Police also seized a large quantity of machinery, equipment, and raw materials allegedly used in the counterfeit production process.

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to consolidate evidence for further legal proceedings.

Following the large-scale counterfeiting case, provincial police urged relevant agencies, businesses, and consumers to step up efforts to detect and prevent counterfeit goods.

They called for tighter inspections and stronger regulatory oversight, improved quality control and greater transparency from manufacturers, as well as heightened vigilance among consumers regarding product origin and authenticity.

Consumers have also been advised to promptly report any suspected counterfeit products to the authorities for timely action.
