According to Traffic Police Team No. 4 under the provincial police department, the incident occurred at around 5:35 pm at the Nguyen Phong Sac-Nguyen Duy Trinh intersection in Truong Vinh Ward.

At the time, traffic congestion was building up near Hung Dung Elementary School.

Major Nguyen Van Tho, who was on duty managing traffic flow, noticed a car attempting to make a left turn from Nguyen Phong Sac Street into Nguyen Duy Trinh Street, potentially worsening the jam.

Major Tho signaled the driver to change direction, but the man behind the wheel ignored the order, drove straight into the officer, and flung him onto the car’s hood before continuing to turn left.

The police team, with help from nearby residents, quickly stopped the vehicle and detained the driver.

The motorist was identified as Le Thanh C., 45, a resident of Truong Vinh Ward.

He is now under investigation for failing to obey a police officer’s order.
