Police probe video of foreign man allegedly assaulting driver after Da Nang crash

Officers from An Hai Ward confirmed they had received a report from local residents regarding the incident, which occurred on a coastal road in the city.

The car driver involved also visited the police station earlier the same day to file a report.

The video, which circulated widely on social media on Monday afternoon, shows a traffic accident involving a motorcycle ridden by a foreign man and a seven-seat car traveling in the same direction.

After the collision, the two individuals on the motorcycle fell onto the roadway.

Then, the foreign man and a woman traveling with him appeared visibly upset and were seen kicking the body of the car.

When the car driver stepped out of the vehicle to discuss the incident, the foreign man suddenly rushed forward, repeatedly pushing and striking the driver.

Although the confrontation lasted only a short time, it drew attention from many bystanders in the busy beachfront area, where traffic and tourist activity are typically heavy.

The video quickly spread online, sparking widespread public reaction and debate.

Many viewers expressed anger over what they described as uncontrolled and aggressive behavior by the foreign individual involved in the incident.

Several others said that regardless of who caused the initial collision, the use of physical violence was unacceptable, especially in a city like Da Nang, which is known internationally as a tourist destination where respectful public behavior is highly valued.

The clip was also reposted on the personal social media account of Luke Deakin, a well-known traveler who has gained attention for walking from the UK to Vietnam.

In his post, he shared the message that “violence is never the answer,” drawing further attention from netizens.

One social media user commented that the footage not only caused public outrage but also raised concerns about the conduct of some visitors when participating in traffic in Vietnam.

Others pointed out that the motorcyclist shown in the video did not appear to be wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which could represent an additional traffic violation.

Authorities said they are continuing to verify the details of the incident and will take appropriate action in accordance with Vietnamese law.
