
A Hindi language biography of late Vietnamese president Ho Chi Minh, authored by Geetesh Sharma, president of Indian-Vietnam Solidarity Committee in West Bengal state, has recently been published in India.
The 115-page book features President Ho's daily life, thoughts and revolutionary activity periods and momentous events.
It also contains his poems, which are translated into Hindi, and accentuates his cordiality towards India through his meetings with Indian leaders and people, particularly his official visit to India in 1958 as well as Indian people’s warm welcome.
The book also includes 22 file photo pages, which capture the President in different phases during his revolutionary life, especially his time in India.
Also included in the book are several rare photos, which capture President Ho during his visit to Kolkata city in West Bengal state in 1946, while he was on his way to Paris.
Its author, Geetesh Sharma, remarked that President Ho is indeed an outstanding statesman in our times, who he and millions of people worldwide consider their idol.
With his book, Sharma aims to deepen Indian people’s understanding of the highly revered Vietnamese leader.
Indian Council for Cultural Relations president Karan Singh wrote in the book’s preface that the President and his prominent thoughts can inspire and enlighten those who are dedicated to combating corrupt officials and their wrong policies.
President Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) is an eminent revolutionist and scholar and was key to the country’s triumphs in wars to gain independence in the 20th century. He wrote and read the country’s Declaration of Independence in 1945 and served as the country’s president from 1945 to 1969.
President Ho has been held in high regard by locals and people around the world, and was voted as one of the 20th century’s 100 most influential personalities by Time magazine.
