The chairman of Da Nang has approved a plan to build a children’s hospital in Son Tra District at a cost of more than US$100 million over the course of almost three years.
Chairman Huynh Duc Tho recently signed a decision to give the green light to build the hospital on a 5.27ha land plot at An Don Industrial Park in Son Tra.
The medical facility will be a branch of the Vietnam National Children's Hospital, located in Hanoi, upon completion.
The hospital will have 500 beds and include a center that runs pediatrics programs supported by the Czech Republic.
The first sod will be turned at the hospital project in March 2020 and the medical facility will start treating patients in 2022.
The Ministry of Health previously allowed the Vietnam National Children's Hospital to cooperate with Thanh Dat Group, a Da Nang-based corporation, to construct the hospital branch in the central Vietnamese city.
Thanh Dat will be in charge of the building work and medical equipment procurement while the Vietnam National Children's Hospital will provide medical capability and personnel.
The Vietnam National Children's Hospital is a leading pediatric center in the Southeast Asian country.
Each year, it treats about 40,000 in-patients and 350,000 out-patients while performing around 6,000 major surgical operations.
The hospital also conducts regular scientific research and training in pediatrics.
