Le Huyen, vice-chairman of the provincial administration, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the group had been working near the top of Hon Ba in Suoi Dau Commune when a large section of Provincial Road 657 collapsed on Tuesday afternoon, leaving them unable to descend.

The province immediately mobilized police, rangers, and rescue teams to locate and reach the stranded workers.

Huyen said forest rangers managed to access the area at around 8:30 pm and escorted all 118 people to a safe shelter nearby. No injuries were reported.

Nguyen Thanh Phu, director of the provincial Department of Construction, said all evacuees are in stable condition and have been provided with food and drinking water while waiting for the road to be cleared.

The department is assessing damage on access routes to Hon Ba to ensure safe travel during the on-going rainy season.
